Most of Lifemark services are available without a doctor’s referral. For example, Physiotherapists are considered primary access practitioners and a physician referral is not needed to access treatment. Some extended healthcare companies require a doctor’s referral in order to reimburse you for the services you have received. It is important to check with your insurance and benefits provider to determine if a doctor’s referral is needed to access your coverage.
Whether you have been in a car accident, had a work injury or have injured yourself at home or playing sports there are several different coverage options available to you.
Some of our services may be covered by government funding sources, automobile insurance, extended healthcare plans and workers’ compensation. Our clinics are happy to assist you in determining what coverage options you may qualify for, such as, Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC for motor vehicle accidents). Please visit our “Locations” page to find and contact a Lifemark clinic near you.
Most Lifemark services and specialty programs are fully or partially covered by extended health plans. We will work with you to understand how to access your coverage as it relates to your injury or condition. In addition, our staff can help you navigate through the claim process and documentation required by your extended healthcare company.
If your injury or condition was caused by a motor vehicle accident (MVA), the assessment and treatment services are covered by both your extended health plan benefits and by your automobile insurance carrier. Our helpful administrative staff and therapists will ensure we access the right funding sources relating to your injury and treatment. Any services not covered by your extended health plan will be covered by your automobile insurance carrier provided all required paperwork and approvals have been submitted and obtained. If you do not have extended health coverage, service fees will be sent directly to your auto insurance carrier for payment.
If your injury or condition occurred on the job, you may be eligible for coverage through your provincial workers compensation board for rehabilitation services. While our amazing therapists work with you on your recovery, our friendly administrative staff will help you navigate through the claims process, documentation, and reporting requirements. We will communicate and coordinate with all parties involved in managing your work injury.
