About
Shahnaz graduated from Manipal University, a prestigious university in India, in 1998 after having completed a BSc degree in 1994. Shahnaz has been practicing in the physiotherapy field ever since, continuously updating his skills and knowledge by completing courses, and is a certified practitioner in Kinesiotaping, spinal manipulation, and dry needling. Shahnaz completed his Doctor in Physiotherapy degree from the University of St. Augustine, Florida, USA in 2019.
Shahnaz has practiced his skills in different parts of the world and varied cultural settings in India, Nepal, the Middle East, the Bahamas, and Canada after moving here in 2021. Shahnaz’s expertise includes treating sports injuries, motor vehicle accidents, chronic pain management, and post-surgical rehabilitation and he has a special interest in shoulder and neck dysfunctions.
Shahnaz believes in the mantra of a detailed assessment followed by educating the patient on the presenting condition and a treatment plan formulated to meet individual needs and goals to relieve pain, regain mobility, and achieve functional independence. In a treatment session, Shahnaz utilizes evidence-based practice, incorporating electrotherapeutic modalities with manual therapy and a tailored exercise program to help his patients recover and improve their physical function, and get the best possible outcome.
On a personal front, Shahnaz is married to a physiotherapist and together they are parents to two sons – one in high school and the other one in primary. Shahnaz is an avid sportsman with a keen interest in cricket and has actively played at all the places that he has been, presently enjoying playing cricket in the Edmonton Cricket League.
